Update: COVID Prevention Planning for 2021-2022 School Year

  • The district is currently updating its COVID plan for the 2021-22 school year, which will address testing, masking, social distancing, contact tracing, quarantines and other COVID-related issues.

The plan will be updated and implemented with the help of health experts. We will continue to monitor the course of the virus locally, including positivity rates, hospitalizations and vaccinations, so that we can make changes to our COVID strategies if necessary.

The updated plan will be shared with the School Board during its regular meeting at 6 p.m. on August 3, which will be held at the Alachua County Administration Building at 12 SE 1st Street. More information about that meeting will be at sbac.edu/boardmeetings.

For the upcoming school year, the state is not renewing its approval of school districts’ alternative learning models, like ACPS’ Digital Academy. Families who still want an online option are encouraged to look into our Alachua eSchool. For more information, visit sbac.edu/aes or call (352) 363-5184.

In 2021-22, the district will continue to provide updates on cases in our schools and other COVID information through our website. We’ll also be working with the Alachua County Health Department to provide more vaccination opportunities for students.
