Cambridge at GHS

  • As a Cambridge International Center, Gainesville High School offers Florida BEST Standards with added rigor. Our goal is to increase students' ability and interest in being independent life-long learners. The students engage in collaborative learning that promotes critical thinking and integrates technology. They learn to communicate their ideas confidently through written and oral expression as they find solutions to problems and examine texts of history and literature.

Our school is a Cambridge International School, registered to offer education programs from Cambridge Assessment International Education, part of the University of Cambridge. We are proud to be part of the world’s largest international community of schools, preparing students for life with Cambridge qualifications that are valued by universities and employers around the world.

The Cambridge Pathway gives students a clear path for educational success. We shape its curriculum around how our students learn with a wide range of subjects and flexible ways to offer them. Our programs inspire students to love learning, helping them discover new abilities and a wider world.

Students who successfully engage in the Cambridge program at GHS have been equally successful in pursuing higher education. Cambridge students have an opportunity to earn a Cambridge diploma, with a 98% success rate at GHS. Our students have attended the University of Florida, Harvard University, Yale University, Stanford University, among many other prestigious institutions for higher learning. The majority of the nation’s colleges are awarding students with advanced standing and academic credit for Cambridge examinations passed. In the state of Florida, all students passing Cambridge examinations are granted up to 45 hours of college credit at all public universities and colleges, and the state’s Bright Futures program recognizes AICE (Cambridge) diploma recipients with the Bright Futures scholarship (currently worth approximately $30,000).

We are proud to be a Cambridge Demonstration Center.
