  • The 21st CCLC programs are FREE academic after-school and summer programs. The 21st CCLC initiative is a key component of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Authorized under Title IV, Part B, of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) of 2015.

Alachua County School District has three 21CCLC grants which operate at eight district school-based centers. Each grant has a name:  Project Discovery, Project Inspire, Project Vitalize.  Each center is staffed with a Site Coordinator who assists with the day-to-day operations. Florida certificated teachers and support staff deliver academic enrichment and personal enrichment lessons. The three grants are managed by District Project Manager Melissa Montgomery. Project Discovery schools are Idylwild Elementary, Lake Forest Elementary, and Metcalfe Elementary.  Project Inspire schools are Irby Elementary (Kgn-2nd) and Alachua Elementary (3rd-5th).  Project Vitalize schools are Foster Elementary, Lincoln Middle, and Westwood Middle.  Application and acceptance to a program is required.  Application does not guarantee acceptance.  21st CCLC is not first-come, first-serve.  Students are expected attend regularly and to stay for the duration of the program day in order to gain the most benefits of academic support.
