  • Curriculum Overview
The faculty and staff at Williams Elementary are committed to providing a well-rounded curriculum that meets the needs of all levels of learners. Our ELA and Math curricula are based on the B.E.S.T. (Benchmarks for Excellence in Student Thinking).  Parent and student resources regarding the standards can be accessed at CPALMS.

Reading: Benchmark Advance from Benchmark Education is the district-adopted curriculum that addresses the English Language Arts standards. English Language Arts includes reading, writing, language (vocabulary and spelling), speaking, and listening.  UFLI Foundations (University of Florida Literacy Institute) is also used as the district-adopted curriculum for phonics instruction. During all ELA instruction, teachers differentiate to meet student needs through literacy workstations and small group instruction. Strong literacy skills are essential to all citizens living in the 21st Century.

Math: Florida's B.E.S.T. Go Math! from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt is the district-adopted curriculum for Math. Additional materials are used by faculty and staff to align instruction and activities with the standards.

Science: HMH Florida Science from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt is the district-adopted curriculum for Science. Brain Pop and Discovery Education are supplemental resources that are also used.

Social Studies: Florida Social Studies from McGraw Hill is the district-adopted curriculum for Social Studies.  Our district is in the process of adopting a new Social Studies curriculum for the 2023-2024 school year.

Exceptional Student Education: Students with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) are provided services through our Exceptional Student Education program based on the recommendations of the IEP team. We strive to provide the most appropriate setting that meets the unique needs of each individual student.
