Howard W. Bishop Middle School is located in Gainesville, Florida. We are currently graded a "B" school under the Florida state criteria for excellence. Howard Bishop combines traditional and progressive approaches to education and exhibits strengths in academics, music and technology.

Bishop has a strong major program which focuses on a steady increase of reading, writing, math, science and social studies skills to prepare students for high school and beyond. Bishop also houses a magnet program, The Academy of Technology and Gifted Studies. Academy students are focused on accelerated learning and develop a high level of technology expertise. In 2013, Howard Bishop Middle School was selected as one of 10 middle schools in the state selected to take part in Workforce Florida Inc.’s Phase II Middle School CAPE IT Career Academy Technical Assistance Demonstration Project.  As a participant, Howard Bishop MS will receive technical assistance from one of the leading youth talent development companies in the country, The Whetstone Group, along with technology products and services valued at $30,000+ to assist in the establishment of a CAPE IT Career Academy and official Certification Testing Center.  This program provides Howard Bishop Middle School students with a unique opportunity to gain a globally recognized industry credential that will validate their skills and abilities in the Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite applications software.
