To the left is a picture of Grace, a 4th grade student at Williams Elementary. She recently participated in the 2023 All-Girl National Chess Championship in Chicago. Grace won 3rd place in her age category! We are so very proud of you, Grace.
The Alachua County Scholastic Chess Association (ACSCA) is a nonprofit organization that organizes chess clubs in public schools throughout Alachua County. ACSCA also organizes tournaments and offers private lessons. In addition to upper echelon programs like Williams, ACSCA is invested in offering free services to economically challenged populations in east Gainesville.
The Chess Club meets Wednesdays from August-March. Club fees are $150 with sibling discounts available.

Math Olympiad:Participants in Math Olympiads are located in all fifty states, three US territories and in thirty foreign countries. In all, this year we have 3,919 teams and approximately 100,000 participants. Four students scored within the top 2% earning a gold pin. Seven students scored within the top 3-10% earning a silver pin. Twenty-Six students scored within the top 11-50% earning an embroidered patch. The team was recognized with a plaque and is included on the MOEMSⓇ Honor Roll because our team scored within the top 10% of all participating schools. The fifth grade students were recognized with the Meritorious Achievement Award for scoring in the top 20% of all participating fifth grade level teams.
