Donna Jones, Deputy Superintendent

Donna Jones, Deputy Superintendent for Alachua County Public Schools, has decades of experience as a highly-successful teacher, school and district administrator.
Ms. Jones earned her Bachelor’s Degree in English Education from the University of Florida, her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Austin Peay State University in Clarkesville, Tennessee and her Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.
Following an internship at Ft. Clarke Middle School, Ms. Jones began her teaching career at Eastside High School. After a family move, Ms. Jones taught high school in Kentucky before returning to Alachua County Public Schools and Eastside High School in 1991. Two years later she became dean at both Oak View Middle School and Ft. Clarke Middle School.
Just a year later, Ms. Jones was promoted to assistant principal at Kanapaha Middle School, then served in the same capacity at Oak View Middle. She was appointed principal of J. J. Finley Elementary School (now Carolyn B. Parker Elementary School) in 1999 and spent ten years at the school until being named principal at Duval Elementary School, where she served for four years.
In July of 2013, Ms. Jones was selected as the district’s Director of Secondary Curriculum, then Director of K-12 Curriculum until she was named Deputy Superintendent in July of 2017. In that capacity, she is responsible for the administration of a comprehensive curriculum and instructional program for the district and for a variety of interdepartmental projects and district-level initiatives.
Ms. Jones has one daughter, a graduate of the International Baccalaureate program at Eastside High School and Vanderbilt University.
