The Eastside High School Media Center provides users with a large collection of print and non-print resources, in addition to the availability of two media specialists for consultation, co-teaching, collaboration and instruction.

Our objective is to “ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information” (American Library Association, 2007). In order to do so, in addition to supplying resources, we provide instruction to encourage students to use information in all its forms and work with teachers to design instruction to meet the needs of students.

Our job is to promote information literacy or the ability to access, evaluate and use information from a variety of sources and in a variety of formats. We work and develop collaborative lesson plans based on the Florida Research Process Model FINDS, a systematic model that encourages student communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills during the research process.
