We have several honors courses available in math, science, and English and social sciences. At this moment, we have our AP computer sciences course, and are looking to add more AP courses next year in core academic courses. 

All students have the same graduation requirements, which are as follows:  All students MUST earn 24 credits:

• 4 English
• 4 Math including Algebra I, Geometry, and 2 additional math credits
• 3 Science including Biology, and two higher level sciences
• 3 history including World History, U.S. History, Government, and Economics
• 1 HOPE credit & 1 Performing Art credit
• 8 elective credits (Must complete a course on a virtual school)

At Loften, students complete all graduation requirements along with their academy courses for Career Technical Education certifications. We operate on a block schedule; therefore, students complete 4 courses in the Fall and enroll in 4 different courses in the Spring semester. Student earn 8 credits a year instead of the traditional 6 annual credits. Loften students have an 80-minute class period each day, and exams are administered at least every 9 weeks to assess for course mastery.

Some academies have an articulation agreement with local colleges to count for credit at Santa Fe College. For further information on this, contact the academy director.

State Testing must be completed to graduate high school as listed below. 

• Grade 10--Florida Standards Assessment in English Language Arts (ELA)
• Pass Algebra 1 and earn a Level 3 score on the EOC (It also counts 30% of final grade)
• Pass Geometry and the EOC counts 30% of final grade
• Pass Biology and the EOC counts 30% of final grade
• Take the U.S. History EOC and have it count 30% of the final grade

Please note: Two years of foreign language are required to attend a 4-year university and for Bright Futures Academic and Medallion Scholarships.

Lastly, many students who would like to take a more advanced track after their sophomore year at Loften apply to Santa Fe College's Dual Enrollment program. This allows the student to earn both high school and college credit for a few of their upperclassmen graduation requirements if accepted into the program. This also begins their college grade point average, so it is very important for students to maintain a 3.0 or higher in this program at SFC. Note: The student must have their own transportation to Sana Fe College as no ACPS busses pick up or drop off at SFC.
