The purpose of the School Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) for the Alachua County School District is to unite members of the local community in discussions regarding the health and wellness of our students and staff, in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Coordinated School Health Model. The components of this model include (but are not limited to) Health Education, Physical Education, Health Services, Nutrition Services, Counseling and Psychological Services, Healthy School Environment, Health Promotion for Staff, Family/Community Involvement, the Safe and Drug Free Schools Program and the Wellness Policy. Representatives from each of these entities comprise the membership body of the SHAC. The SHAC will meet on a quarterly basis during the school year, to discuss specific topics and does not practice formal voting.
