3/29 vs. Trenton
Gainesville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday in a 14-6 loss to the Trenton Tigers. This is the second time they’ve faced the Tigers this season, improving from a 14-2 loss earlier this month.
Chris Eckhardt was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career high. Cade Dixon was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
The loss brought Gainesville’s record down to 6-8. They’ll hope to improve at home against Lafayette on Tuesday.

3/26 vs. Santa Fe
Gainesville fell short Wednesday in a 19-6 loss to Santa Fe.
On offense, Gainesville managed the game with only one strikeout. Esteban Barranco had a stand-out performance, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Jackson Dugan also contributed with his first double of the season.
On the base paths, Gainesville was aggressive and successful, stealing a total of 6 bases. BJ Johnson led the team with 2 stolen bases, while Taylor Brewer, Kaiden Griffith, Esteban Barranco, and Yunel Rojas each added one.
Gainesville’s record now stands at 6-7. They will face Trenton (13-3) at home on Friday.

3/25 vs. P.K. Yonge
P.K. Yonge got their revenge on Gainesville’s 8-0 lead earlier this season with an 8-1 win Tuesday.
On offense, Gainesville managed 7 hits, with standout performances from Chris Eckhardt with 2 hits, and Esteban Barranco, who maintained a perfect average with 2 hits. Connor Kemph also contributed with a double.
Esteban Barranco pitched 3 innings, allowing only 2 runs and striking out two batters. BJ Johnson also contributed with 2 full innings pitched, striking out three batters.
Gainesville’s record is now tied at 6-6. They will play Santa Fe (10-9) on Wednesday. -
2/21 vs. St. Francis
The ‘Canes faced the St. Francis Wolves this Friday, winning in a close 10-8 match. This win improved their record to 3-1.After trailing 0-2 in the first two innings, the ‘Canes had a breakout fourth inning, scoring seven runs. Though the Wolves were able to consistently score in five innings, the ‘Canes secured their lead with three additional runs in the sixth inning.Despite having only five total hits, the ‘Canes were efficient at outsourcing their opponents. Connor Kemph had a standout performance at bat, managing three RBIs and two runs in just four at-bats. Jackson Dugan, Kaiden Griffith, and Esteban Barranco each added to the win with one run each. Also contributing to the score was Chris Eckhardt with two runs.The ‘Canes will travel for their first away game on Tuesday against Bellvue (3-3). -
2/18 vs. Bradford
Gainesville High School encountered their first loss of the season today by a score of 0-3 against Bradford.The ‘Canes struggled to get on base, with just two hits (Ty Quinn, Taylor Brewer) against Ryland Rike, who pitched the whole game for the Tornadoes.
For the ‘Canes, freshman Ty Quinn was at the mound for the first 4 innings, earning 6 strikeouts. BJ Johnson finished things off with 3 additional strikeouts in the remainder of the game.The loss brings the ‘Canes record to 2-1. They will hope to improve this on Friday with a home game against St. Francis at 7 pm. -
2/14 Home vs. P.K. Yonge
Gainesville High School overtook P.K. Yonge Friday in a dominant 8-0 win. This triumph serves as revenge for their last matchup with the Blue Wave, where they lost 0-12.Cade Dixon led the team at the mound, pitching more than 6 innings of the game. In the 24 batters he faced, he struck out 10 and allowed no runs with only 3 hits against. Baserunning was also strong, with 12 bases stolen including 2 runs scored off a steal.Contributing to the score were Kaiden Griffith, Zak Kazlauskas, Taylor Brewer, Connor Kemph, Ty Quinn, and Esteban Barranco with one run each. Chris Eckhard added an additional two runs off of two hits.This win improved GHS’s record to a perfect 2-0, which they hope to build on in their next game at home vs. Bradford.
