Access to Resources

Books and Periodicals

There are over 15,000 books, and electronic periodical subscriptions available to our users. Books are available for check-out; magazines and periodicals can be accessed online via the databases option.

Online Resources

There are about 20 computers available for student use in the media center. Please remember that students using the equipment for academic objectives have priority in their use.
All district online resources can be accessed from home or school.

Printing

Printer

Students may print for free any instructional materials/activities needed. Personal printing is not encouraged and students may be charged ten cents a page if printing privileges are abused. Due to budget cuts, students are encouraged to print homework at HOME and classwork at school. Any student needing to print in the media center on a daily basis is encouraged to donate copy paper for his/her use.

Color printer: A laser color printer is available for teacher use. Students needing to print in color will be assisted by a media specialist.

Photocopier for Student Use

Complementary but limited photocopying is available to students. Please ask for assistance before operating the machine. NOTE: this service is currently very limited. We are expecting a new machine in the next few weeks.         il

Teacher Resources

Collaborative Planning

Teachers are encouraged to meet with media specialists to plan lessons that integrate our available resources. Please make sure to complete a FINDS Collaborative form when reserving the media center.

Book check-out

Teachers may check out materials for as long as they need them. Please be courteous and remember to return them when finished so others may enjoy the use of those resources.

Audiovisual materials and equipment check out

AV equipment is available for daily check-out. Please ask for assistance at the front desk.

Lamination

The laminator turns itself off and takes between 15-20 minutes to warm up again. Since most repairs to the equipment are due to user error, please leave the materials to be laminated at the front desk and we'll try to complete the job for you by the end of the day.

Photocopy room

Copier can be accessed from the hallway or from inside the media center. If you need a key to access from the hallway, try the mailroom/restroom key or request one from Mr. Williams. Please remember to close the door behind you to protect confidential materials, as students will attempt to go through the copy room. Copier is available for teacher use only. Monthly limit increases require administrative approval. Please see Mrs. Turnage, Mrs. Antony or Mrs Welch for assistance.
