ACT Information

The ACT is America's most widely accepted college entrance exam. It assesses high school students' general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work.
The multiple-choice tests cover four skill areas: English, mathematics, reading, and science.
The Writing Test, which is optional, measures skill in planning and writing a short essay.
You MUST register online for the test. If you are on free and reduced lunch you qualify for a fee wavier. You can use four total during your junior and/or senior year for the ACT.

SAT Information

The SAT is a three hour and thirty-five-minute exam that measures skills in the areas of Critical Reading, Mathematics and Writing. The scores are used for college admissions purposes because the test predicts readiness for college work.
The SAT will still measure the kind of reasoning skills needed for college by assessing how students apply what they have learned in school. Colleges and universities use the SAT as one of the many factors in admissions decisions. The best preparation for the new SAT and for college is for students to take challenging courses and to read and write widely.
The SAT registration fee is $60.

PSAT/NMSQT

This exam provides students with a practice test in preparation for the SAT I. It is also used in the selection of the top juniors in the country for the awarding of National Merit Scholarships. The NMSQT selection index is determined annually and varies from year to year. It is announced at the beginning of each school year in September. PSAT scores are not used by colleges as admissions criteria.
It is recommended for any student planning to attend college to take the PSAT at least once if not more than once while in high school.
