Promotion and Graduation Requirements

  • Promotion from middle school to high school requires that all students successfully complete the following academic courses: 

    • Three middle school or higher courses in English.

    These courses shall emphasize literature, composition, and technical text. 
    • Three middle school or higher courses in Mathematics. 
    • Three middle school or higher courses in social studies,

    one semester of which must include the study of state and federal government and civics education. 
    • Three middle school or higher courses in science. 
    • One course in career and education planning, to be completed in 7th or 8th grade.

    (may be incorporated into other designated courses)

    In addition, students need to:
    * Achieve at or above grade level in reading and mathematics, based on standardized test scores
    *Earn a 2.0 GPA

    9th Grade:
    To be promoted to the 10th grade, the student MUST have earned at least 4 credits. 
    Earning 6 credits would mean fully on track to graduate on time.

    10th Grade
    To be promoted to the 11th Grade, the student MUST have earned at least 10 credits. 
    Earning 12 credits would mean fully on track to graduate on time.

    11th Grade:
    To be promoted to the 12th grade, the student MUST have earned at least 16 credits. 
    Earning 18 credits would mean fully on track to graduate on time.

    Graduate:
    Students must earn 24 credits total, 2.0 GPA, and passed all required testing for that year's class. 
    Within the 24 credits, there are certain requirements that must be met.
