    The Academy of Automotive Technology prepares students in the areas of Maintenance and Light Repair Curriculum for Automobiles.  It prepares students not only for employment but also for additional specialized training in the automotive industry.  Through partnerships with BMW of Gainesville and Gatorland Toyota, students have a natural pipeline to employment in the local industry.

     

    Goals of the program:

    Support students in preparing for the automotive industry.

    Teach soft and employable skills.

    Ensure that students leave with a basic understanding of automotive maintenance including (but not limited to): steering and suspension, brakes, engine repair, electrical, engine performance, etc.

     

    Magnet Application Information

    Applications for the 2025-2026 school year will open on January 14, 2025 and close on February 11, 2025. This page will be updated with the details ASAP.

  • Mr. Ray Shiver has been the program director since January 2025. He has over 4 years of experience in the automotive industry and has his   G-1 (General Service Technician) Certification. Mr. Shiver also completes the required coursework and workshops to maintain the required certifications to be an instructor in ASE Education Foundation-Certified Automotive Programs. Mr. Shiver also graduated from Loften's auto program in 2021.
