At Metcalfe Elementary academics are a top priority. All of the curricula are based on Florida's B.E.S.T Standards. Florida's B.E.S.T. Standards in reading are addressed through Benchmark Advance. The district adopted core reading program for K-5 elementary students. A 90 minute uninterrupted block is set aside each day to address reading instruction. Literacy stations, guided reading, direct instruction, and small group instruction are methods used to deliver reading instruction in the classrooms.

State Standards in Science are addressed through the use of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. Go Math: Florida from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt serves as the basis for our math program. Teachers use creative and engaging means to enhance all subject areas.
