Assessment Overview

Florida’s K-12 assessment system measures students’ achievement of Florida’s education standards, which were developed and implemented to ensure that all students graduate from high school ready for success in college, career, and life.
Students in the following courses are subject to state assessment:- English Language Arts: 3rd - 8th grade, English I, and English II
- Mathematics: 3rd - 8th grade, Algebra I, and Geometry
- Science: 5th grade Science, 8th grade Science, Biology
- Social Studies: Civics and US History
Benchmark Assessment (all grades)

All students participate in the Alachua Instruction Measurement System (AIMS) benchmark assessment to ascertain mastery of grade level standards. AIMS is offered between 2 and 4 times per year for each subject. The results of the AIMS assessment provides information to make curriculum decisions for each student.
Middle School Math Placement Test (grade 5)

Students who received a Level 4 or above on the FSA Math fourth grade will be eligible to take the Middle School Math Placement Test. The test is administered in May. Results will be sent home with the final report card.
