Welcome from the Principal
Mr. Bell
2022 - 2023
SCHOOL HOURS: The school day for students is 7:45-1:52 p.m. except on Wednesday when we dismiss at 12:37 p.m. Teachers/staff are on duty from 7:15-2:45 p.m. Please do not drop off your child prior to 7:15 a.m. There is no adult supervision. It is critical that your child is in school every day and on time. Learning begins promptly at 7:45 a.m. and continues through the end of the school day. Early check outs are highly discouraged. Please make every effort to make doctor appointments, etc. after school hours. In the event that it is absolutely necessary for you to check your child out early, please have your picture identification available. Our front office staff has been instructed to always check identification. Thank you for your cooperation. Again, safety is our top priority.
EMERGENCY CARDS: When you receive your emergency card, it must be filled out on both sides. Be sure to sign the back for Medical/Emergency Release in order to receive emergency treatment for your child. Be sure to return the card the next day. A current telephone number where a parent can be reached must be accurate at all times. Also, be sure to list the people who have the right to pick up your child from school. If a person’s name is not on the emergency card and we cannot reach you to verify that he/she may take your child from our campus, the child will not be released. Emergency cards are very important to the safety and well-being of your child.
PARENT HANDBOOK/CALENDAR AND CODE OF STUDENT CONDUCT: You will receive a parent handbook/calendar that will include important student information and dates. You have also received The Code of Student Conduct. It explains the policies regarding what rights and consequences will occur should there be a disciplinary action needed. As required by the district, we will follow these policies.
PARENTS AND VISITORS ON CAMPUS: For the safety of our students, all parents and visitors must report to the front office to sign in and receive a pass. At dismissal time, we ask that you wait for your child outside the building. Each day, we transport over 500 children through the hallways. For our students’ safety, teachers are only allowed to dismiss children in the designated areas. We request that you remain in your car in the car line and allow our teachers/patrols to assist your child into your car. Please use the placard and write your child’s first and last name LARGE and neatly so it can viewed from our sidewalk.
CHANGES IN THE WAY YOUR CHILD GOES HOME: If you change the way your child is to go home, a written note must be sent to the teacher. Otherwise, your child will go home the regularly scheduled way. Due to the difficulty in verifying a caller’s identity, phone changes will not be accepted unless it’s an emergency and with administrative approval.
STATE CLASS SIZE REQUIREMENTS/CLASS PLACEMENTS: Given the mandatory 1:18 class size requirement for grades K-3 and 1:22 in 4-5, all student placements are tentative. We thank you in advance for understanding that it is likely that class placements for many students will have to be adjusted after school starts in order to meet class size.
Our administration, faculty, and staff look forward to working with you as we help our children have a successful and productive school year. If we can assist you in any way, please do not hesitate to call us at 352-955-6708.
Happy New Year!
