  • Q: What is the required GPA for the Cambridge program?

    A: Students need to have a minimum of a 2.75 unweighted GPA to remain in Cambridge.

     

    Q: How many years of Spanish will students have?

    A: Spanish is not a graduation requirement. Cambridge requires two years of the same World Language. GHS offers Spanish and American Sign Language, but GHS offers Spanish that is a Cambridge syllabus that can go toward the Cambridge diploma.

    Q: How does the dual enrollment program with Santa Fe College apply to the Cambridge Program? For example, if you were in the Cambridge Program at GHS for junior and senior year, would you still have to go to the high school every day?

    A: Students cannot dual enroll through Santa Fe while in the Cambridge program unless it's just for a class or two. Several Cambridge students take dual enrollment classes at UF. 

     

    Q: Can you take Cambridge courses without being in the Cambridge program?

    A: Yes, there are some courses that all students are able to enroll in as long as they meet the prerequisites.

    Q: Would I be able to attend Cambridge, AFT, and participate in theater or would AFT replace my elective?

    A: Students can dual enroll in AFT and Cambridge, and it is still possible to participate in theater.

     

    Q: When will we know if we get accepted into the program? What day or week? How will we be notified?

    A: The tentative 1st round of acceptances will go out in early April, You will be notified by email so make sure the emails are correct in the application.

     

    Q: How many applicants do you typically receive for Cambridge?

    A: In recent years, we've received between 300 and 450 applications.

     

    Q: What GPA will you be looking at, weighted or unweighted, and are you looking at FSA scores of 7th grade and grades from S2 of 7th grade and S1of 8th?

    A: Test scores are not a requirement. GPA min is a 2.5 minimum for Health and Future Teachers; 3.5 for Cambridge -- to meet the lottery requirements.

     

    Q: What’s the fundamental difference between the Cambridge program and IB?

    A: The IB program has a more rigid course requirement sequence. Cambridge offers more flexibility in tailoring course choices to meet the students' needs/interests. Both programs offer rigorous academic coursework.

     

    Q: What is Bright Futures Scholarship? Could you please tell a bit about that.
