Curriculum Overview

Middle school children learn important skills and knowledge through direct instruction from their teachers, collaboration with peers, opportunities for problem-solving, and independent mastery. Instructional technology is used to engage students in critical thinking, research using approved resources, and communication of their ideas. Students develop concepts and knowledge in:
- Mathematics
- English Language Arts
- Science
- Social Studies
- Reading
- Art, Computers, Speech and Debate, General Music, Chorus, and Band
- Physical Education and Health
Students in Gifted classes take the following:
- In 6th grade: Gifted Comprehensive Science 1 and Gifted Reading and Gifted 6th grade Accelerated Math
- In 7th grade: Gifted Comprehensive Science 2 and Gifted Reading and Gifted 7th grade Accelerated Math
- In 8th grade: Gifted Comprehensive Science 3 and Gifted U.S. History
