Extracurricular Activities

  • Girls on the Run

Girls on the Run is a North American non-profit program that works to encourage pre-teen girls to develop selfrespect and healthy lifestyles through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games, culminating in a celebratory 5k run.

    JCC

Junior City Commissioners is student government at an elementary level. Students campaign, give speeches, and have an election. The elected members of the JCC serve as liaisons between Archer Elementary School and the city of Archer. They hold their own commission meetings at City Hall prior to city commission meetings.

    Safety Patrol

Members of the patrol serve as school leaders who ensure the safety of fellow students. This is a select group of 5th graders who are committed to providing a safe school environment for all students at our school. A Safety Patrol member is a responsible, respectful, cooperative, and helpful student who remains in good academic standing in all subject areas while modeling good behavioral choices.

    Chess Club

Chess club was formed for the purpose of learning and playing the board game of chess. Students get together to learn, play, and discuss chess. Both informal and tournament games are available to our students. Each student also earns a trophy for stretching their minds beyond the normal school day.

    Math Club

The Math Club fosters awareness and appreciation of mathematics as both an intellectual pursuit and as an extra-curricular activity. Our students participate in the MOEMS Olympiad, which is a large and popular mathematics competition for students in grades 4 through 8. Our students also compete against students from around the district in the year-ending Superintendents' Championship. The goal is to expose students to methods of mathematical problem-solving and academic competition.
