  • Hidden Oak Elementary School

    Design work has begun for the project to replace the HVAC cooling towers and controls. This will improve the functioning of the HVAC for the entire school.

  • Idylwild Elementary

    On April 16, the School Board approved a contract with Hoy Stark Hogan Architects to redesign the campus, which will include the demolition of existing buildings, the construction of new buildings and the renovation of existing buildings.

    The district has advertised for the hiring of a construction manager for this project. Responses have been received and will be evaluated/selected by a review committee through due process.

    An application to demolish Buildings 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6, which include the food service/cafeteria building and classroom buildings has been submitted to the Florida Department of Education. Demolition of any school building requires state approval, which can take seven to nine months.

  • Metcalfe Elementary School

    An architectural firm has been selected to redesign the campus, which will include the demolition of a majority of existing buildings, construction of new buildings and the renovation of remaining buildings.

    An application to demolish Buildings 1-10, which include classroom buildings and the art/music building, has been submitted to the Florida Department of Education. Demolition of any school building requires state approval, which can take seven to nine months.

  • Terwilliger Elementary School

    Construction has begun on a new roof for Building 1 (classrooms) and a new roof and HVAC system for Building 10 (food service). The projects are scheduled for completion by the fall of 2019.

  • Elementary School "I"

    SchenkelShultz Architecture will be the design professional for the new Elementary School I in southwest Gainesville. This is the same firm that designed Meadowbrook Elementary School, and the Meadowbrook design will be reused and modified to 948 student stations for Elementary School I. Target completion date is the fall of 2021.

    The district has advertised for the hiring of a construction manager for this project. A review committee has completed the evaluation and selection process.

  • Bishop Middle School

    The replacement of the media center roof has been completed.

  • Gainesville High School

    Work has begun to replace the HVAC system in Classroom Building 27 (9th Grade Center). Building 27 including 19 classrooms and other spaces, including four computer labs and a multi-purpose/dining area. The scheduled completion date is August of 2019.

  • Hawthorne Middle/High School

    Design work is complete for replacing the HVAC in Building 1 (Kitchen) and replacing the roof and HVAC in Building 2 (gym). Estimated construction completion date is January 2020.

    Work is complete on replacing the roof for Building 32 (classrooms). The project was projected to be completed by the start of school in the fall of 2019.

  • Duval Early Learning Academy

    Construction has begun on the replacement of roof and HVAC for Building 2 (music/art) and roof replacement for Buildings 3 and 4 (classrooms, kitchen/dining/multipurpose). Project construction completion date is by the start of the 2019-2020 school year.
