Night Program

  • There are two separate night courses:

     Course #1900300 - a lab only (behind the wheel training) course designed for students that are either currently taking, or have previously taken the classroom portion of driver education (either in a regular classroom or virtually).

    Requirements

    • Students must be an Alachua County Resident
    • Students must be 15 years of age and have a valid Learners Permit
    • Students must be enrolled or have previously completed an SBAC driver education course either in a regular classroom or virtually

    Registration

    • Call the Traffic Safety Center at (352) 955-6959, from 8 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday.  Bring the $50 lab fee (cash, check or money order) to the first day of class.
    • Space is limited – class will be filled on a first come – first serve basis
    • Students must be registered one week prior to the lab starting date (see schedule below)

    Notes

    • There are four, 6-day labs available for fall semester.

    • Attendance is mandatory – six drives required. Students will not be tested if missing lab days
    • Lab student must be in “good standing” and have passing grade in classroom to attend lab.

    Course Dates: September 14, 2020 - December 10, 2020
    Holidays (no classes): November 11; November 23-27
    Registration: Accepting Applications August 3, 2020.  There is a $50 lab fee.

    Times

    Initially, the class meets Mondays and Thursdays.  Depending on enrollment, beginning September 28th one class will meet on Monday and Wednesday (lab day) and the other class will meet Tuesday (lab day) and Thursday.  All classes meet from 5:30 - 8:00 pm.

    Spring Semester

    Course Dates: February 22nd 2021 - June 9th 2021
    Holidays (no classes):  March 22 - 26, 2021

    Registration:  Accepting Applications January 4, 2021.  There is a $50 lab fee.

    Times

    Initially, the class meets Mondays and Thursdays.   Depending on enrollment, beginning March 29, 2021, one class will meet on Monday and Wednesday (lab day) and the other class will meet on Tuesday (lab day) and Thursday. All classes meet , 5:30 - 8:00 pm

    The staff at the Traffic Safety Center will do everything possible to prepare you for your final driving test, but we do not guarantee that you will pass. Excessive absences, as well as other factors, may prevent you from obtaining the skills needed to achieve a passing score.
