Night Program

There are two separate night courses:
1. Lab only (behind the wheel training) course is for high school students who have completed the classroom portion of Driver Education, either in a brick and mortar school or Virtual school, or who are currently taking Driver Education as an elective at their school during the normal school day. We still have space available in our LAB ONLY Sessions!
Additional Requirements
- Students must be an Alachua County Resident
- Students must have a valid Learners Permit
- Proof of Driver Education Course Completion (Not the TLSAE course)
Registration
- Registration begins August 5, 2024
- To register, call the Traffic Safety Center at (352) 955-6959, from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
- Bring the $100 lab fee (cash, check or money order) to the first day of class
- Space is limited – class will be filled on a first come – first serve basis
- Students must be registered one week prior to the lab starting date (see schedule below)

Lab Dates Registration Deadline A 1/21, 1/23, 1/27, 1/30, 2/3, 2/6 1/14 B 2/10, 2/13, 2/18, 2/20, 2/24, 2/27 2/3 C 3/3, 3/6, 3/10, 3/13, 3/24, 3/27 2/24 D 4/7, 4/10, 4/14, 4/17, 4/21, 4/24 3/25 E 4/28, 5/1, 5/5, 5/8, 5/12, 5/15 4/21 - Attendance is mandatory – six drives required. Students will not be tested if missing lab days
2. Classroom and lab course designed for students not taking driver education during the regular school day or virtually. Students will earn a half elective unweighted credit.

Registration: Begin Accepting Applications: August 5, 2024 thru August 23rd, 2024. There is a $100 lab fee.Times
Initially, the class meets Mondays and Thursdays. Beginning October 1st class will meet Tuesday (lab day) and Thursday. All classes meet from 5:30 - 8:00 pm.
Spring Semester
Course Dates:January 21-May 8th 2025
Holidays (no classes): February 17th and March 17-21 2025Registration: Begin Accepting Applications: January 7, 2025. There is a $100 lab fee.
Times
Initially, the class meets Mondays and Thursdays. Beginning February 25th, 2025, class will meet on Tuesday (lab day) and Thursday. All classes meet 5:30- 8:00 pm
The staff at the Traffic Safety Center will do everything possible to prepare you for your final driving test, but we do not guarantee that you will pass. Excessive absences, as well as other factors, may prevent you from obtaining the skills needed to achieve a passing score.
