Speakers Bureau

Are you aware that our district School Volunteer Program will help you locate and schedule speakers to come to your school to present enriching programs to your students?  The Speakers Bureau maintains a listing of agencies and individuals who are willing to volunteer their time and share their talents, career information, and international perspectives with students.

The Speakers Bureau acts as a “booking agency” by scheduling speakers and providing confirmation details to speakers and schools, even providing maps to the schools.  To book speakers, just follow these easy steps:

    1. Every effort is made to fill requests whenever they are submitted, but due to the high demand, it has become necessary to create a master calendar of “big events,” which must be created before any recruiting can happen. Remember that if too many events are already booked on your date, you may need to be flexible and reschedule for a different date. Please allow several weeks for your request to be processed and sent out to potential speakers.
    2. Be on the lookout for the annual electronic brochure of Special Programs available for your grade level! This brochure is emailed to you at the beginning of the school year. New presentation topics are published annually.
    3. Complete a Request form for each presentation you want to book.

    4. Be as clear as you can and provide as much detail as possible in your request.
    5. Upon scheduling, confirmation packets will be emailed to you, the speaker, and your front office, so the event can be recorded on the front office’s master calendar.

A partial listing of currently available topics follows. The topic you need might not be listed, but ask for it anyway!  Remember that topics are subject to change depending on the continued availability of the speakers, and additional topics may be added as they arise. Even though we cannot guarantee the ability to book a particular topic, following is a list of some topics booked in recent years.

    Becoming a Speaker

If you'd like to help us enrich student learning by becoming a classroom speaker, thank you! We are always looking for dedicated volunteers who would like to spend time teaching students about their career and passions. Schools request a wide variety of events and preseentation topics which include, but are not limited to : Career Day, Vehicle Day, Holidays Around the World, International Cultures, STE(A)M, and all that you see listed below. Beyond this, I also help recruit judges for our middle schools' local sicence fairs which occur in November and December each year.

To register, please go to our Speaker Registration Form. *Note that you will also need to email me (speakersbureau@gm.sbac.edu) an outline of your presentation or a copy of your slideshow presentation. This is for the safety of our students. We want to ensure that the program is appropriate, and that you respect speaker/volunteer guidelines.

For more information or any questions, contact Samantha Johnson at 352-955-7250 X6413 or speakersbureau@gm.sbac.edu.
