Software Review Process
-
We strive to provide the best possible online educational resources for our students and teachers. If you find a valuable resource that you would like to use in the classroom, check our approved software portal first. If it is already approved for your grade level, you can begin using it right away. If it is not listed or not approved for your grade level, it's easy to submit a request for approval through our KACE ticketing system.
This process is important to ensure compliance with the state's legislation requiring districts to vet online applications used by students. The software approval committee will consider your request based on the following criteria:
- Does the district already have an application that is used for the same purpose? We will consult with the curriculum specialist in that content area.
- Is the resource a valuable addition to the current curriculum? We will consult with the curriculum specialist in that content area.
- Is the resource safe for students? The IT team will evaluate the technical aspects of the resource.
- Do the Privacy Policy and Terms of Agreement meet the district and state requirements? The submission requires that you include links to both agreements. They will be reviewed.
- Is the resource free, freemium or require a subscription? The school principal must already have approved and agreed to purchase if it requires a subscription and is not already covered by a district subscription.
